Acrylic on Gesso panel
Childs Play
82cm Wide x 121cm High x 3cm deep
By using as a setting the backdrop of the Isle of Mull this painting has a surreal sense of place. The chosen colour palette reflecting the dominant colours of much of the year.
The subject addresses our childhood relationships with nature, which can be lessons learned of its savagery. Through play and exploration, we experience fear and the cruelty of nature.
In the painting the younger girl on the left is turning away in shock at seeing the Heron behind her eating a live frog. The Herons size is intentionally larger than life to convey a child's distorted perspective. The older girl on the right is triumphantly holding aloft a jar of captive tadpoles, suggesting her discovered dominance over nature.
This painting was selected for the Columbia Threadneedle prize exhibition in Mall galleries London.

VISIONS OF VENUS
- Original on birch panel with 22c gold leaf.
- 60cm Wide x 91cm High x 2cm deep.
My Venus embodies the feminine potential.
Set within a Scottish Hebridean island.
Its evocative sepia colours,
the washed out tones of a seemingly timeless wilderness.
Venus stands before us as a triumphant child, playing hunter of dragons.
She represents the inherent potential of the female,
a young defiant being, with the early spark or courageousness.
This work was selected as part of the Visions of Venus exhibition - curated by Dr Elaine Melotti Schmidt (co-curator of the Bennett collection) - to be held at the Zhou B Haus der Kunst art center Chicago USA 20th April - 8th June 2018.

BOG COTTON CLOUDS
61cm wide x 46 cm high - acrylic and gold leaf on board.
This painting has been created in Graham"s own original style of combining acrylic paint with gold leaf.
The gold leaf in the foreground gives extra depth and life to the painting,
By using as a setting the backdrop of the Isle of Mull, a Scottish Hebridean Island which has been his home for the past 9 years, the painting also has a unique sense of place.
The rugged landscape with its wide untamed spaces is used to convey a sense of peace and freedom and as an escape from everyday urban life .
There is a surreal quality to this painting, the figure seems to be transported, as if she is dreaming to be in this place, there is a sense of tranquility.
The work inspires thought into our current and past relationship"s with nature and the world we have created.
